5 Best At Home Stress Management Activities Anyone Can Do

Stress is a particular state of our body and mind which may occur due to challenging and demanding situations that we may face. Sometimes stress is good for us because helps us to meeting the deadlines or avoid dangers. However, excessive stress is not good for our health.

Due to Covid-19 pandemic and global economic turndown the situation has become much worse. Managing stress properly has become so much important for this reason. Maintain a Daily Routine

Maintaining a daily routine is essential for maintaining focus. An organized and productive lifestyle can keep depression at bay.

Having a daily routine doesn’t mean you have to follow the routine strictly.

Even the celebrities break rules frequently. So, don’t take it too seriously. But having a planned schedule ahead can give you direction to focus, especially when things get tougher.

Sleep Properly 

Sleeping properly ensures that our brain gets proper rest and this can reduce hypertension. Experts  suggest that at least 6 to 9 hours of sleep is required for an adult for a healthy lifestyle.

Lack of enough sleep can lead to lack of alertness, increased stress, and premature aging etc.

Yes, some may find it difficult to sleep during hard time with loads of uncertainties. Following  tips can help to sleep for required amount of time:

  • Stop using all electronic devices (i.e. mobile phone, computer, tab) at least 2 hours before  going to bed. 
  • Try to ensure more daylight experience.
  • Limit your caffeine & alcohol consumption.
  • Maintain a constant bed time.
  • If sleeping time is significantly low consult with a physician and take supplements as  prescribed.

Don’t Skip Exercise 

Many people think that doing exercise or physical activities during hard and stressful times can make you feel worse. But, science is saying the opposite. Doing exercise regularly increases the release of endorphin, a hormone that can make us feel better.

For physical activities you don’t have to go to the gym during this social distancing and lockdown situation. Outdoor running, hiking, biking, or playing with kids, all are very good physical activities that can increase the release of endorphin. Moreover, none of these activities put any extra-burden to your bank account.

Eat Properly 

Foods are the fuel of our body. Eating right food can ensure that our body gets the nutrients they need for proper functioning.

For example, fatty fish (salmon and tuna) and nuts are rich in omega-3 fatty acid. Many studies have found the effectiveness of omega-3 fatty acid in controlling upsurge of stress hormone.

Some other nutrients that are found to be effective in stress management are vitamin C, magnesium and complex carbohydrate.

Maintain a Healthy Hygiene

Staying clean and maintaining social distance is the best we are advised to do till now to prevent Corona Virus. According to the Department of Health, Australia -the following things can ensure that you are maintaining a healthy hygiene:

  • Take shower or bath every day. It can remove impurities from your body.
  • Clean your teeth at least once a day. It would be great if you can do this twice a day.
  • Wash your cloths regularly and wear clean cloths.
  • After coming from outside wash your hand with soap or hand wash, wash your mouth with a good face wash.
  • Don’t forget to apply a good facial toner after washing your face.
