Active Ingredients

Aloe Leaf

The leaf of the aloe vera succulent plant is well-loved for its skin-healing properties. It has been used as a folk treatment to heal and soften the skin for thousands of years and treat a wide variety of skin disorders including:

  • acne
  • skin injured by radiation
  • minor burns,
  • psoriasis
  • dandruff
  • and skin abrasions

It also contains chemicals that work as a laxative. It is a cactus-like plant that grows wild in tropical and arid climates worldwide and is native to southern Africa, Madagascar, Jordan, the Arabian Peninsula, and various Indian Ocean islands.

For pets, aloe is best recognized for providing calm and relief from itchy, irritated spots on the skin. These inflamed, infected skin areas can be caused by excessive licking, scratching, flea infestation, allergies, or tangled and matted fur. Aloe can help heal and soothe the itching.

The peppermint herb is a hybrid between watermint and spearmint and was originally cultivated in Europe and the Middle East. For centuries, it has provided a diverse array of health benefits.

It is especially useful for indigestion and bloating of Irritable Bowel Syndrome, as it is an anti-inflammatory and soothes muscles of the GI tract.

Peppermint is also a natural decongestant, and one of the plant’s active ingredients is menthol, which treats mucus and reduces coughs. It is also soothing to sore throats and helpful to lower blood sugar and treat Type II Diabetes.

The aroma alone can increase one’s memory and alertness. It can be used for allergy relief for dogs, as an analgesic for mild muscle pain, as an antiseptic for open cuts or wounds, and provided to aid in digestion.

White Willow Bark Extract

For centuries, white willow bark has been used for pain relief. Today’s aspirin is made from white willow bark, and it is often used as a natural substitute. It has similar effects in treating musculoskeletal pain and inflammation and in the prevention of blood clots.

The willow tree grows almost all over the world, except for Australia and Antarctica. The white willow has a grey-brown bark and is native to Europe and western Asia.

In addition to acting as a pain reliever, it has been used for centuries to soothe irritated skin; it contains salicin—from which salicylic acid is derived—which is both anti-inflammatory and antibacterial.

For pets, white willow bark extract can also be used as a pain-reliever and anti-inflammatory agent. It is especially helpful in treating arthritis and relieving arthritic pain and inflammation in pets.
